Dear Minister Perrett,
FishLIGHT program: Call to stop the tunnel net commercial fishing gear trials
I am aware of the letter dated 9 February 2026 that was sent to you by the Inshore Flats Project and others calling on your government to stop the trial of tunnel net fishing gear in Central & North Queensland.
I fully support the call to stop all tunnel net trials now. Tunnel net fishing should not be introduced to Central & North Queensland, having regard to the economic, social and environmental costs and risks that are associated with it.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
